Mentors for High School Seniors needed

Are you interested in making a difference and enriching the educational
experience of high school student?

If you answered yes, we want you to be a part of a new graduation
requirement for all North Carolina high school seniors beginning with the
seniors that will graduation in 2010.

There will be a potential mentor informational meeting on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Northwood High School in the Media Center at 7:00 p.m. Please attend!!!

Currently, each junior in all Chatham County high schols has written a
letter of intent to complete the Graduation Project on a topic of their
choosing. Each student is required to identify an adult mentor who will
assist in the completion of the tangible, product component of the
Graduation Project. It is estimated that Chatham County Schools will need to help identify an adult mentor for approximately 525 seniors between now and next school year. This is our biggest obstacle!

Attached is an informative brochure that gives general information about
Graduation Project as well as very specific mentoring guidelines.

If you or someone you know is interested in serving as a mentor for a local high school student please contact one of the four high schools listed on the brochure. You may also contact me, Megan Johnson, as I am the coordinator at Northwood High School and work very closely with the entire district. I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding Graduation Project.
