Carol Owen

Carol has an article published in a new magazine,
Somerset Apprentice.

The article is titled Layered Landscape,
and it’s about a technique Carol uses in her altered books.

Somerset Apprentice is published by Somerset Studio, a national paper arts magazine that has featured Carol's work in the past. Apprentice is one of their new magazines (this is the second issue, the first was last year), and is out on newsstands now.

has updated his web site
and is offering photo workshops for 2009

"The new website's goal is to provide advice and tips that you will find useful, no matter your level of expertise. We already have a few articles, reviews and commentary posts up on the site, and have a schedule full of future articles. Naturally the website will also feature a lot of great images illustrating the articles."

Chatham Artists Guild is now on MySpace!

As part of our PR program, I have set up a Facebook presence for the Chatham Artists Guild.
You need to be a Facebook member to see it. It is free. Set up a Facebook membership for your art business, Then, you can link to the Guild site, post messages, etc.

Hopefully, Google will pick the site up as it is used more.

I am trying to use social networking technology to raise the awareness of and enhance the communications within our Guild.
Stay tuned,
Forrest

Studio Tour in the News!

Sixty local artists open their doors to the public starting this weekend for the Chatham County Studio Tour, giving visitors a chance to meet the artists where they work and to enjoy a unique shopping experience.
Founded in 1992, the Chatham Studio Tour is scheduled for the next two weekends—this Saturday and Sunday as well as Dec. 13–14—from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon until 5 p.m on Sundays.

The North Carolina Arts Council's
Artful Traveler visited with artists Joyce Bryan, Kathleen Jardine, Siglinda Scarpa, Rita Spina and Edwin White in their studios recently to discuss their work and the impact of studio tours in Chatham County.

Forrest Greenslade in the news

"Night Music" painting by Forrest Greenslade

"Retiring can be traumatic,” shared Forrest Greenslade.“ In one day you go from making important decisions, having your name known, being invited to all the big meetings, and having authority and influence, to having all that gone. In one day. A lot of people don’t survive it. A post-retirement career is the best health change you can make. You have to find something you are passionate about and study, study, study, so that you can become the best you can be at it.”
