General Display Policies for showing at the Carolina Brewery
Venue Exhibits Duration:
Exhibits will be held bi-monthly
Removal:
All artwork will remain on display during the entire time of the exhibition period. Artist’s contact information will be made available to patrons wishing to purchase.
Participation Requirements:
At present the exhibit space is offered to 2D art only.
Exhibits are by Invitational and juried proposal. Space is available for one person and group shows. Chatham Artists Guild / Studio Tour artists given juried status
Liability:
Carolina Brewery will assume liability for theft or damage to artwork while at location and carries insurance to cover such costs. Artists are required to list artwork and insurance value prior to hanging.
Sales
Sales are encouraged. All artwork displayed during the exhibition must be for sale unless otherwise clearly labeled. All prices should be posted near the artwork. The listed price should be the ‘retail’ price of the works. Sales prices exclude sales tax. Any delivery of sold pieces is the responsibility of the artist regardless of which party conducts the financial transaction of the sale.
Sales during the exhibition are the responsibility of the artist. Interested parties will be instructed to contact the artist. Contact info will be clearly displayed next to art.
Fee
There is no venue fee.
Commission
Carolina Brewery does not take a commission.
Right to Refuse
Carolina Brewery reserves the right to refuse display of any work.
Photographic and Promotional Rights
Carolina Brewery and Chatham Artists Guild reserve the right to photograph and/or have photographed any or all works of art for promotional or record-keeping purposes. Carolina Brewery and Chatham Artists Guild has the right to publish the name, likeness and biography of
the artist and to reproduce and distribute material incorporating photographs of the
artist’s works in order to promote the exhibition, sales and the art opening. Nothing in this agreement allows the venue or Chatham Artists Guild to reproduce this artwork for
resale purposes.
Labels
Labels must accompany all work exhibited. Labels should include Artist’s Name, Title of
Work, Medium, Dimensions (h” x w” x d”) and retail price (unless otherwise indicated) Artists are expected to provide an artist’s statement to accompany the exhibition. Group exhibits must use consistent labeling.
Delivery, Setup and Pickup
Artists are responsible for delivering and removing artworks in a timely manner. All
works must be fully displayed prior to the date and time of the art opening. The artist agrees to pick up all unsold items on the end-date of the exhibition period.
The Carolina Brewery Art Coordinator will coordinate a time and date for hanging and take down.
The artist or group assumes responsibility for the actual hanging of the artworks.
All visual art must be ready for exhibition. Paintings must be dry and wired for hanging.
All photography must be wired for hanging.
Title and Receipt
The artist warrants that he/she has created and possesses unencumbered title to the entire
artist’s works. The artist’s works will not be subject to claim by a creditor of venue. In the unlikely event of default by venue, artist will have all the rights of a secured party under the Uniform Commercial Code.
Art Reception Responsibilities
The Carolina Brewery will an art reception.
Specific responsibilities may be shared between the venue and artist. The Carolina Brewery Art Coordinator will coordinate.
Publicity
Chatham Artists Guild agrees to publicize the exhibit through press releases to the news media and through its website at the initiation of the ARTIST. The artist is responsible for sending the draft of the press release to the venue for information verification.
Chatham Artists Guild and the venue may coordinate photo sessions for the artists with the art works at an appropriate time during the exhibit.
The Carolina Brewery agrees to publicize the exhibit. Stories placed by the venue need to identify Chatham Artists Guild ( “sponsored by”) in articles and photo captions.
Financial Arrangements
All financial arrangements (sharing of costs of postcards, mounting/display material, posters, etc) are between the venue and the artist(s).
Exclusion
Chatham Artists Guild is not a party to the agreement between artist and venue.
Chatham Artists Guild makes no guarantees or warranties about the agreement or the venue’s or artist’s performance.
Arbitration
Any controversy or claim related to this Agreement, or breach thereof, will be settled by
arbitration in accordance with the North Carolina Uniform Arbitration Act. Costs
associated with arbitration will be borne equally by venue and artist. Any judgment
rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof.

Entire Agreement
This Agreement contains the entire understanding of the parties with respect to the
subject matter thereof; it may not be changed or amended except in writing signed by the
parties; and it will be construed and governed with the laws of the State of North Carolina.
