Support the Chatham Artists Guild

The members of the
Chatham Artists Guild

have a request for you . . .

. . . but first, let us tell you a little about the Guild. In 1992, a group of people got together and started the Chatham County Open Studio Tour to promote artists living in the county. Since that time participation in the Tour has grown from 32 artists to almost 60.

In 2007, the artists of the Tour formed the Chatham Artists Guild and were awarded 501(c)3 status. Guild artists continue to work with other non-profits, either by contributing artwork or by helping out at various venues. They also donate their time by giving free lessons to Senior Centers, school children and others.

Community is important—it is to our Guild, and we know it is to you, too. In our new role as a nonprofit organization, we plan to bring to our community even more educational events and cultural exhibits featuring the extraordinary artists of the Guild. Our members lead workshops, teach classes, donate their art, creativity and time to charities, sponsor events and serve as artists-in-residence.

The artists of the Guild have come a long way in our 15 years together, as you can see by the enclosed brochure, and our web site. Through the hard work of our dedicated team, our look is now up to the high standard of our art. Our goal is to continue to grow in quality and excellence in all the facets of our organization.

The Chatham Studio Tour is still a focus of the Guild. The Tour contributes to the financial well-being of Chatham County in addition to supplying enjoyment and excellent artwork to our many visitors and giving Chatham school children a chance to exhibit their artwork, too.
The Tour attracts many visitors who come not just for the art, but also for the scenic beauty that inspires the artists. While they are here, these visitors also patronize our excellent shops, restaurants, B&Bs and businesses.

The functions of the Guild and the Tour are supported mainly by Guild member artists’ fees and hard work. We sell advertising space in our brochure to local businesses but this only covers a portion of the costs.

As artists we are often asked for donations so we are sympathetic and try to only ask others for help when we really need it. We have not asked for several years, but this year we need your support for the production of our brochure. Our brochure is our face to the world and we want it to be the best it can be, and as you know, looking good can cost a lot, so we need your help.

With your tax-deductible donation, you help publish the beautiful, collectible Chatham Studio Tour brochure, and more than that, you help promote the arts in Chatham County. Please help the Chatham Artists Guild and the Chatham Studio Tour be the best they can be!

Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely,

Chatham Artists Guild Board of Directors
