A deep-seated urge to be creating—the bringing of new things into the world—led me to ceramics. As a potter, I have the amazing opportunity to sit at the wheel each morning and create objects of function and beauty.
My hope with these objects is that they facilitate the coming together of community. I focus on kitchenware because I believe that the sharing of meals creates vital gathering spaces, and that beautiful handmade objects bring mindfulness and hope into those gatherings. Comfortable, durable and visually compelling pieces combat rampant consumption and disposal.
I have had the unique opportunity to apprentice with two inspiring potters—Rusty Sieck and Seattle-based potter Loren Lukens. I work primarily in stoneware, and fire to cone 10 in gas and wood.
