I am basically a self-taught artist. From an early age I have felt compelled to “make”; from the intricate, multistoried cardboard dollhouse, at around 8-10 years old, to the various fiber arts (macrame embroidery, rug hooking, weaving, sewing). When I was a teen, I started using my father’s power tools to build with wood and do some refinishing. In the years since, I have worked with stained glass, metal and cement sculpture, hand made paper, beads and tile mosaic. I love having a wide range of materials to work with and combine in unusual ways.
Working in the building trade as a residential tiler for 13 years has furthered my attention to detail and technique, and working as a landscaper and gardener has cultivated a sense of beauty, harmony and quality of light to my artwork.
