My Pottery is all about integrating art and science to form something beautiful in the end.
The forms that I choose are mostly inspired from nature – especially what you can observe in the springtime. There is nothing more perfect than the curves on a newly opened leaf or petal – or the shapes and movement you see in a healthy young bird or creature.
My favorite type of glaze is crystalline – which is a process where crystals are grown in the glaze during the fire. The glaze formulation must have all of the right ingredients present, and the firing process has to be done at the exact right temperatures and conditions to encourage crystal growth.
In the end, what I look to create is a balanced flowing form with a vibrant sunny glaze.
